Harvest report 2014

A very dry and warm winter causes early bud shoot. At this time the vegetation is pretty similar to 2011. Many rainfalls in May bring highly needed water for the upcoming blossom in the second week of June. From the second week of July on, the weather becomes more and more strange. At the time of apricots harvest it rains almost every time for a short moment, the same happens in august. September is also far too wet and so the head start from spring is completely gone. The fungus botrytis cineria grows more and more in October due to high temperatures during the nights. It becomes a race against the time for harvesting healthy grapes. Simultaneously the sugar levels stay lower than in the previous vintages. Therefore the harvest ends late at the end of November and unfortunately the quantity as small as 2013 or 2010.
